Departing from Dunkeld & Birnam, we start our day by visiting the Pitlochry Hydro Dam and Visitor Centre, where you can walk along the Fish Ladder and (hopefully) see Salmon migrating their way up stream. With fantastic views across Loch Faskally and the River Tummel, the interactive Visitor Centre is a learning experience for all ages.
We then take a short drive to the Visitor Centre at Killiecrankie and hear the story of the Redcoat Soldier who leapt 18ft over the River Garry, when fleeing the Jacobite’s during the 17th-Century Battle; if you want to include it, you can walk to the famous spot, although we don’t recommend trying the feat yourself!
Leaving Soldiers Leap, we make our way to Blair Atholl for our lunch stop before heading to Blair Castle & Gardens. The home of the Dukes of Atholl, this beautiful and historic castle has recently been the filming location for ITV’s ‘Victoria’. You can either join the castle tour or take time wandering around the grounds.
To finish this tour, we visit the House of Bruar; whether you want to shop for seasonal Scottish products, partake in refreshments or walk to the Falls of Bruar, the time you spend here is up to you!
