Loch Ness Shore Excursions from Invergordon

Mythology & History Combine

Urquhart Castle overlooking Loch Ness

Leaving Invergordon Port round 8.30am, we start our day with a journey to Scotland's most famous Loch; Loch Ness.  Whether you believe in Nessie or not, there is no denying that Loch Ness is an impressive sight; it’s size and depth make it one of the largest Lochs/Lakes in the UK.  Our first stop is in Drumnadrochit at the Exhibition and Visitor Centre where you can hunt for Nessie in the shop or café.

Our next stop is a only a short drive away, but Urquhart Castle provides a great way to view the Loch.  Learn about the history of this ruined castle that was once reclaimed from the English by Robert the Bruce and enjoy the short tour and exhibition located in the visitor centre.

We now drive north to Inverness; the capital of the Scottish Highlands, situated on the River Ness, is the UK’s northern most city.  Stopping near the riverside for your lunch break, you get some free time to explore the city centre before your Guide transports you to the Battlefield and Visitor Centre at Culloden.  Here you will be transported back to 1745 and experience the final stand of the Jacobite Rising; you can stand on the moors where this epic battle took place or immerse yourself in the exhibitions in the visitor centre.

Our final stop takes us to the majestic standing stones at Clava Cairns; a last photo opportunity before we head back to Port.

In total, this tour is scheduled between 7-8 hours, allowing for additional time spent at any venues should you require it.  We aim to have you book at the Port no later than 5pm.
