Collecting you from the Queensferry Port, we will drive into central Edinburgh where we recommend you take the guided tour of Edinburgh Castle. Following this, your guide will walk you through the Old Town of Edinburgh and along the Royal Mile pointing out the historic sights of the Capital City. For those who would prefer to spend some time shopping, this is the place for you, otherwise your guide will continue with your walk to Holyrood Palace. The Palace was the home of Mary Queen of Scots and is the modern-day Edinburgh residence of her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II; we can take a short visit inside Holyrood Palace before stopping for a lunch break.
Your guide will collect you following lunch and drive you to the base of Arthurs Seat; this is the highest point in Holyrood Park and is actually the remains of an extinct volcano. Walking up to Arthur’s Seat gives you spectacular views of the park and Edinburgh, and is a great opportunity for the photographer.
We now take a short 30-minutedrive out of the city, to the Rosslyn Chapel. Made famous by the movie, ‘The Da Vinci Code’, the Chapel has stood here for over 550 years and is worth visiting for the stained-glass windows alone! With links to the Masons of Scotland, famous visitors to this site include Robert Burns and Queen Victoria.
Concluding your tour, we take the scenic drive back to your ship, stopping briefly to view the iconic Forth Rail Bridge and the 2 impressive road bridges that cross the River Forth.
