Enjoy stunning views from one of Perthshire’s iconic mountain ranges before heading to Balmoral & Braemar; the Highland retreat of the Monarch.  A wee Dram at the local distillery finishes off this exploration of all that Scotland has to offer.

The first part of your journey allows you to sit back and enjoy some breath-taking scenery as we take you into the heart of the Cairngorm National Park.  There are several places where we can stop for photo opportunities, but our first scheduled stop is the Glenshee Ski Centre; in the winter, this is resort is buzzing with winter-sport enthusiasts, but here you can enjoy a quick refreshment break in the Base Café or enjoy spectacular views from the chairlift.

Next, we travel on to Balmoral Castle & Estate, where you can enjoy the spectacular gardens and the short, guided tour around the castle.  Purchased in 1852 by Queen Victoria, the Castle Building was completed in 1856 as the original building was felt too small.  (The Estate cannot be visited during August & September when The Queen is in residence.)

Here we will take a lunch break, before we visit the Royal Lochnagar Distillery, to undertake their Distillery Tour.  Founded in 1845, Queen Victoria visited in 1848 and issued the Royal Warrant allowing the distillery to add the prestigious title to its name.  After the tour, and a brief stop in the shop, we head on to the town of Braemar.

Braemar, is famous for it’s ‘Gathering’ in early September and is regularly attended by The Queen; here you will visit the picturesque town centre, Braemar Castle and the ruins of Kindrochit Castle.  Parts of this ruin are thought to date back to the 1300’s, when King Robert II was on the throne.
